PREGNANT?

Are you experiencing...

  • swelling
  • pain & or disomfort
  • headaches
  • stress
  • high blood pressure

Do you want to promote optimal wellbeing for you and your baby?

Massage and Prebirth acupuncture is the natural alternative you’re looking for.

During pregnancy and childbearing, the normous influx of hormones combined with weight gain, altered body shape, and the biophysical and structural discomforts caused by increased blood volume and a shifting center of gravity, all contribute to many pregnant women feeling downright uncomfortable, emotionally and physically!

Acupuncture and massage is a safe and effective way to relieve physical stress, and help you address psychological stress.

WHAT’S HAPPENING TO YOU?

Pregnancy causes some natural changes to occur in posture, which may lead to discomfort. Low back pain, neck pain & related headache, leg and foot pain can all result from the shift in load stress as the fetus develops.

Vascular changes occur (especially in the lower limbs). These vascular changes mean that during pregnancy you are more prone to oedema varicose veins, leg cramps, achiness and ankle swelling.

CAN MASSAGE HELP?

Massage can ease the discomfort associated with postural dysfunction during pregnancy.

Reduction of muscle spasm, reduction of pain awareness and education can all help to alleviate some of the distress associated with pregnancy.

Regular massage can also assist in the prevention of discomfort caused by swelling, through appropriate stimulation of the circulatory system.

PRE - BIRTH ACUPUNCTURE

Pre-birth acupuncture increases the chances of a natural and efficient labour.

Pre-birth acupuncture refers to a series of treatments (generally in the final 4-6 weeks of pregnancy) which focus on preparing women for childbirth, and relieving discomforts which they maybe experiencing, including: heatburn, constipation, body aches, oedema, increased anxiety and tiredness.

The general aim is to promote optimal conditions during pregnancy, though some points are spcfically used to prepare the cervix and pelvis for labour, induce birth, or to turn to a breech baby.

Acupuncture treatments are tailored to individual requirements and will generally involve a minimal number of points, applied either side-lying or seated.

Pre-birth acupuncture is effective in clinical practice!

  • 35% reduction in the number of inductions
  • 31% reduction in the epidural rate
  • 32% reduction in emergency caesarean delivery
  • 09% increase in normal vaginal birth

RELIEVE STRESS!

You may experience anxiety & stress during your pregnancy.

Stress hormones may have a negative effect on your developing foetus (such as an increase clotting in factor and blood pressure).

Massage and accupuncture have been shown to relieve the symptoms associated with the stress response by promoting relaxation and the production of pain reducing hormones such as endorphins.

When a woman feels integrated and healthy in her body and mind, she will manifest a more positive birth experience.
